Heartland Rhythms provides unique, hands-on drum circles and rhythm events in the Chicago area that are tailored to your specific goals, population, and environment. Rhythm events are used in many settings, including:
The Workplace
Examples: team-building, employee stress reduction, and motivation
Places of worship
Examples: healing events, worship services, and spirituality
Community organizations
Examples: fundraisers, community spirit, neighborhood gatherings, and as an adjunct to social and therapeutic services
Empowerment groups
Examples: personal empowerment and individual expression
Family events and get-togethers
Examples: family reunions, celebrations, and intra-family bonding and communication, which may include multiple generations and family members with memory or other challenges
The size of the rhythm event varies with the circumstances. Typically, participants sit in chairs in a circle, or in concentric circles if the group is larger. Guided by the facilitator, they improvise music, playing drums and other percussion instruments like shakers, wood blocks, and tambourines. As participants play together, they coalesce as a community.
